Which os to install for x64 cpu

Toshiba laptop 4Gig ram x64 processor:intel core i3 -which os to install? x86 or x64

is it a good idea to install a x64 OS on a laptop with 4g of ram. Im aware that x86 OS can only use about 3.5g of ram but in the past i have been told to use x64 os on PC with over 4g of ram. In this case my laptop allows me to install x64 OS because of the architecture of the cpu

I wont be keeping numerous programs running simultaneously. I wont be video editing. I will be using the laptop to browse the internet and check my email for the most part.

If relevant I have uefi on this laptop not old school bios

Just go with x64. You've got nothing to lose.

I'd go with the 64 bit. It will run 32 bit applications fine and x64 Windows 10 will run on systems with RAM as low as 2GB.

Might as well not limit your potential. FWIW I have an i3, 4GB RAM laptop and at upgrade I went with x64.
