I have updated to Windows 10 on my Lumia 640 but have lost my contacts

Check your Account in Settings, maybe there's an alarm, keep phone connected, account will be synced automatically by OneDrive

People > ellipses (...) > settings > add an account

Some have not had their accounts migrate across to the new People App from 8.1. This solved it for me.
