What happened to my Windows desktop mode?

[Windows Central Question]

I cannot access the app screen on 10.1. I believe there was an auto update and when I logged on again I couldn't access the app screen. I can only see my desktop with all the shortcuts I had before. I have to right click the Windows icon to be able to shutdown/restart and access other places like Control Panel.
The weird thing is that on my wife's log on it's still there but not on mine???
Also, Internet Explorer disappeared from the taskbar and won't stay up there when I drag a shortcut there.

Oh you mean that you can't open the start menu? Do a quick search online and you'll find a few solutions have been posted. All have varying degrees of success. Best thing to do (what I did as well), create another User Account for the device and use that one as your main account
