Anyone know how to edit registry to pretend to be a Lumia?

I am to understand that it's possible to alter the registry on your phone to pretend to be another model to get updates. I have an HTC One M8 and would like to "be" a Lumia 930. I can't seem to find any info on the subject. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Changing the registry means emulating a different phone and at the moment there aren't any HTC phones out there with w10m support so this wouldn't work.

Even if you do find out how, I wouldn't be advising you to do this at all. There is simply no way to know how the phone will handle it.

Lastly, the last two RS builds have caused many unsupported devices to go into bootloops. Heck even a 640 users (supported phone btw) is having issues
