Why is my battery life lasting so little?

When I bought it, technical description provided by the shop said that the battery would last 8 hours. Actually it doesn't have life for more than 4 hours. Is it because my Surface has a problen?

8 hours is a bit on the optimistic side as usual, but what I would do is monitor Task Manager.

Something may be using up more resources than usual. (like housekeeping stuff, updates, other things...)

Also, usage can play a role as you probably know.
