Why can't I adjust brightness levels anymore?

When I click on the battery in the task bar, it shows me the options to turn on power saver and adjust the screen brightness. But recently, the screen brightness button has become completely gray and unclickable. F2 and F3 aren't working either. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

check in settings > updates to see if there is an update installing- if not, check for updates
What kind of device are you using?

I checked for updates but nothing came up. I'm using a lenovo laptop and I have windows 10 installed.
