All of my apps are on the phone but cannot be seen on the Start Menu

My wife has a Lumia 550 with Windows 10 mobile and recently decided to uninstall an app called 6tag. When she returned to her start menu most of her apps had disappeared. I checked using the storage app and they're all still on the phone but she has no way of accessing them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

scroll to the right to see apps list - long press the apps to get the pin to start screen option

Unfortunately the list has gone too. I can find the apps she's downloaded in the app store. They are also visible in the storage app on the phone but the start screen and app list have disappeared.

can you go to settings and check for OS updates?
And have you tried restarting the device?

If the above fails, you'll have to factory reset the phone

Yeah we did the latest update and it made no difference. Restarted (with battery removal) still nothing. I suppose factory reset is all we can do

make sure to do a data backup - photos, files etc
