Found missing files, but now they are gone

[Windows Central Question]

Ok, so my computer updated to the new windows 10 without my permission. I was fine with it since I couldn't stop it. well believe it or not when I get on my computer the next day, all my files are gone. So call microsoct, went through the steps and found all my files. Yay, so I moved them out of the old files and put them where I can easily access them. I didn't trandfer them to a USB drive and that is my mistake. well windows did an update, didn't think anthing of it, and now all my files I had found before are GONE!!! is there anyway to get them back or are they gone forever??
