Why can the person I am trying to talk to not hear me.?

try a restart and check again if it performs the same way
Make sure the volume set is high or at maximum

then it looks like there's something faulty with the mic - is it under warranty?

Just to be sure it's the mic, can you try a whatsapp or skype call?
