How do i downgrade or rollback to Windows Phone 8.1 on my Lumia 520?

[Windows Central Question]

I signed up to the windows insider program and now i want to go back to WP8.1. I followed the procedure from here : http://www.windowscentral.com/roll-back-windows-phone-81-windows-10-preview
The recovery tool says Software Package not available for this device.
Can someone help me?

did you use some "unofficial" method to get windows 10 on your phone?
Tried a hard reset?
run the tool, without the phone plugged in, and select my phone was not detected and follow the steps there maybe?

update the software on the pc and then try again
