Windows Central Question

Selecting any/all MP3 files, and using top menu in file manager to play results in groove starting, then screen immediately going full black except for mouse pointer. PC is absolutely useless at that point, must pull plug. Using ctrl/alt/delete pulls up blue screen and options for task manager, but any selection results in reverting back to full black screen. Hovering at bottom, tray icons appear in very short flickers. Hitting windows button results in intermittent short flickers as well. It seems groove is defective, and kills display driver. Advise with ANY alternate, preferably non-microsoft product that actually works and simply plays MP3, MP4, and WMA audio files.
