why do my contacts disappear when setting up my inner circle?

When I went to add another contact to my inner circle, all the previous names were there, however they were in a fade mode, except for one
Does this mean that they are not holding? When I tap on the faded name, I am told that there is no contact card or something about the account.

For the contacts you're having problems with, do you have 2+ linked profiles for them? I had a problem with one contact who kept disappearing from my inner circle. For some reason, there were 10 links so I unlinked and afterwards saw 9 separate, duplicate named contacts but some with only one phone number or a Skype name or email address. I'm not sure how they got there but contact management has been wonky since the Outlook.com "upgrade"...anyway, I deleted the dupes, updated the one remaining with all the phone numbers/email addresses, and added it back to the inner circle. It's been fine since.
