Windows Central Question

Bought this Dec 2014 from B&H, so no more warranty. Installed Windows 10 Mobile on main branch (forgot build number, but should be very recent). Device is physically flawless, no cracks visible.

Problem: I would say about 1-2 in^2 (about 6-12 cm^2) of touchscreen on the left bottom-ish side is missing. Basically on the lock screen, I can't press 1/4/7 keys, but 'Emergency Call' works.

Tried the hold edges and press the center with LCD facing outwards, but no luck.

Before I use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool, is there any other things I should try? Is the phone hosed?

Thanks

Have you tried the soft reset Power down, hold volume down and power button at the same time and wait for 15 seconds or until you feel the second vibration and then release both buttons. If this doesn't help, make a backup and then take the step you mentioned.
