Suppose I want to buy a windows 10 64-bit laptop. Suppose I am planning on using Microsoft office to write papers for college, to use google to do research, to watch youtube videos, to log in to Facebook and twitter. How much memory do I need?

    I agree... 4GB RAM. Core i3.

You are not asking about anything fancy. The 4GB is the minimum to run 64 bit OS and that's where you really want to be.

4 gb with an m3/i3 processor would be more than sufficient.
