Since the app isn't even native and it's an iOS port, how hard is it to hire an ultra small team to deliver updates once in 5 months at least? Why can't Facebook do that? And if they can't do it, then why can't they make a universal app like Instagram does? It doesn't make sense that Facebook, a multi billion dollar company is unable to deliver a proper app for Windows all these years.

I understand that the user base is low but so it is for WhatsApp and Instagram. Why do they keep updating their apps and keep it on par? I wish they did more work instead of simple abandoning the app, since it's a port, and there are still millions of users despite the low user percentage. It's the only thing that makes me wanna leave Windows.

Probably they don't see the benefits of improving an already functional product considering MS is in maintenance mode with W10M and the expenses that come with improving any app.
