Can windows phone be considered as a basic phone?

I'm a no-smartphone person. But i need Emails, BBM,and maybe whatsapp. I find the rest to be distraction.

I currently roll around with a Blackberry 9900, but it does not sync with my Outlook.com contacts and calendar and was looking for a better alternative.

Can Windows phone be a good replacement?

Emails will work.
Whatsapp will work.
I am not sure about BBM.
So you might want to research that a bit.
Otherwise it will work for you.
Why don't you want to try one of the newer Android BB devices, if you don't mind me asking?
