How to choose a new laptop without Windows 10

What to do, y'all? I'm looking for a new laptop that DOESN'T have Windows 10.
I have an old workhorse: it's a Lenovo ThinkPad (gotta be a good several years old), with Windows 7.
I'm shopping for a new laptop for an online master's program. I want a fresh, up-to-date, uncluttered laptop.
The Lenovo is in-and-out of Urgent Care i.e. just had HD replaced (corrupted OS); hinges/webcam needs replacement; battery somehow remains attached; keyboard is meh. I worry about it gunking up my classes or throwing digital poop on my coursework somehow. Can't risk it.
Any recs for an awesome modern laptop with an OS that won't give me a headache?
(P.S. No, Apple is not an option)
