    I use Mac and absolutely love one very specific part of the screen reader. The part where I can highlight text, then press a hotkey and it reads it aloud. I don't want an ongoing narration of everything that is happening on my computer, just this one simple thing. Highlight text - press the hotkey - windows reads the highlighted text.

    Try enabling Narrator to see if it does what you want: All Settings > Ease of Access > Narrator. Edge also has a read aloud option that may be closer to what you want: highlight text > right click > Read Aloud. A "reading" bar will appear at the top with controls to start/stop and change speed and voice.
