Can we please have a windows file explorer that tells me how large a folder is without me having to actually open said folder to view "x files, x megabytes" in size?

Also, why can't we have a file explorer that shows and allows changes to a file's comments. Like the tool FileMeta(x64).msi (https://github.com/Dijji/FileMeta/releases) does? Shouldn't this be built-in to Windows?

    Thanks,

    Andy

Try a program called treesize. It's not exactly what you want, but maybe it can restore some of your sanity

Or try the option shown below

Perhaps I'm missing something but what's the difference between hovering your mouse over the folder?

You can only comment in a shortcut.

@HeyCori I think he meant, that when launching the explorer, the first quick access page, doesn't show the size of folders.

He can right-click to see the size of folders.
In my mind, he just wants an option to hover over those files and have the size displayed. Which shouldn't be a lot to ask imo

I'm honestly so used to right clicking to see what the properties are, that I just do it that way as second nature.

I'm used to hovering the cursor over the folder to see its size. But this is an interesting question I never even thought about!

But he seems to lazy to right-click.
Admittedly, mouse-over the folder should tell us how big it is.

Or use detail pane. This pane is also useful.
Yes, correct. But again, involves more user clicks.
