Ok so basically just now I started my PC and before I could do anything, my cat decided to jump onto my keyboard and pressed some keys. Now I noticed that my headphones don't seem to play any sound, however when I deactivate them the sound works fine, so it's because of them. I can see them in my sound settings, they are even the standard sound devices. It's as if they got muted or don't work on both sides, which I highly doubt because they were just fine yesterday. I'd bet my cat just pressed some key, no idea what could have caused this.

Gadgets these days tend to have different volume levels for different audio outputs, maybe headphones were muted but the speakers weren't?

    Did you ask your cat?

In all seriousness, can you take a picture of your keyboard and share it here and we can see if we can find the culprit key.

Different laptops have different configurations for turning the headphones on/off. On my old HP keyboard, it was "Fn" + "F6". My current one has a specific button just for it.

As said above, try to look for any keys whose second function has a picture of a speaker or audio and press that (FN key + the key) to see if it helps.
