How to improve laptop performance?

I got this laptop and it became painfully slow. I will be upgrading the RAM and SSD soon, but was wondering if there is something on the software side of things I could also do? It's running Windows 10 v1909. My last resort (regarding the software) would be to do a reset through the Settings app.

Reset or clean install of Windows is your best bet. BUT I would probably wait till you try the RAM and SSD upgrades first.
