    Have you done the "usual" stuff? 1) Restart the PC 2) Run the hardware troubleshooter 3) Check the driver in Device Manager & try to update it 4) Verify the mic works on a different PC, if you can.

    If you've done that, then try a cold boot: shut down the PC, unplug it for a couple of minutes, and then power it on. This does a hardware check which a soft restart doesn't. It's "fixed" things like this for me, most recently on 2 PCs when Bluetooth mysteriously stopped working and wouldn't turn on.
