Ok, here's my issue I'm dealing with. My wife and I have been on separate AT&T contracts and now want to merge our accounts to a Mobile Share Plan to have hotspots for our kids and our iPads. I'm a longtime Unlimited Data customer that uses, on average, 2 gb per month and have for the last 7-8 years. My wife has never used over about 1.5 - 2gb per month on her phones. So, I've been watching our data usage for the last 12-18 months to see what plan would be the best if we ever decided to switch. Up until the beginning of November, I had an Android phone for a year, and an iPhone for a couple years before that (my data usage stated above relates to those phones).

Long story short: Up until November when I switched over to a Lumia 920, based on our usage over the last year before that, I figured a 6 gb MSPlan would suffice, but since I got my new WPhone, I've noticed my data usage has steadily increased every month. I went from an average of 2gb to 3.5gb at my April mark. The problem is, I don't do anything different than I have done over the last 8 years with AT&T! ALSO, my wife's data usage (which has NEVER gone over 2gb) was 3.2gb on her March bill, yet it was about 2.2 - 2.4gb on her February and April bills. Neither one of us have a huge amount of apps that run in the background. I make sure I check all the time to block apps from doing that.
Has anyone else noticed an odd increase in data usage after switching from another OS to WP?

I don't want to have to get a 10 gb MSPlan. That wouldn't be any cheaper than we pay right now for both of ours.
NOTE: I forgot to mention that switching over to the 6gb plan would save us about $80-100 per month.

I have a 920 and my girl has a Titan. Our data usage has remained steady for the past year.

Hmm....Mine is really strange. I can understand mine increasing a little, bc we've been having wifi problems at my work, so a lot of times, I just turn wifi off and run my cellular data, but my wife's usage is the strangest thing, bc she doesn't do anything to use heavy data, and she specifically didn't in Feb-Mar, which is where her's almost doubled.

I haven't noticed any significant data increases, but I may not be a good use case because I still have my unlimited data plan and I don't really pay that much attention to it. I would suggest turning on the setting for WiFi on in the background. This way any tile tasks or background tasks that you are not blocked will use WiFi instead of data when the phone is "off".

Maybe she doesn't notice her phone going into Battery Saver mode which sometimes disconnects WiFi.

Jaskys, that 6gb plan would be for 2 smartphones and 2 iPads. Like I originally said, I usually only use about 2gb/month and she only uses 1-2gb/month.
If you have kids with access to watching videos on iPads, you would understand..... ;D

Yes, but only on wifi. Actually, I just switched it to that option a couple weeks ago. That could be the reason

I would bet that is the cause. I turned that off as soon as I got my phone and haven't seen any difference in data consumption between my old Android phone and my Lumia.

Also check your background tasks. You may have one that's behaving wrong.
