Hey Guys

I am new to the wpcentral side.I am having a hard time finding a higher end WP that will work with Wind Mobile in Canada. I understand the phone has to have the 1700/2100 AWS bands functionality for it to work. Any recommendations on what Windows Phones will work? Looking for something high endish. But open to any suggestions.

Ps. Disappointed that the upcoming Nokia Lumia 930 won't work either. I may need to switch carries because ultimately that was my phone of choice.

Anyways thanks in advance for your feedback

Right now the only high end 8.1 phone is the 930, which you've already ruled out. Next would be the existing high end lot... Unfortunately apart from the 1520.3 (not available on contract) and the rumored 1525 (not yet announced but would run 8.1 out of the box) from T-Mobile, none of them would work. In the mid/high range, last-gen, there's the 1020, T899M (ativ s), 920 from Rogers, 925 from T-Mobile.

Thanks for the reply! Will the Lumia 1020 work with WIND mobile? If so that is probably my best bet for now.

I'm looking at the Nokia Lumia Icon 929 the Verizon Model, according to some postings on ebay, it supports the Band 13 and 1700Mhz/2100Mhz which is what is needed to get 4G with Wind Mobile. Can anyone else confirm this actually working? I currently have an unlocked Nokia 521 orginally unlocked from T-Mobile, and it works beautifully with my WIND account.

I just checked on the Verizon website, the Nokia ICON does support

Frequencies: LTE Band 13 & 4; CDMA 850/1900; WCDMA 850/900/ 1900/2100, GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900

I believe LTE Band 4 is 1700 / 2100 so an unlocked Verizon ICON should work just fine with WIND Mobile can anyone confirm?

Does anybody know if the Ativ S works on Wind? Also, somebody said the 1020 from Rogers, but does that mean the 1020 from Telus won't work on Wind?

Looks like Wind and Rogers are using the AWS 1700 MHz frequency for 3G so Rogers crosses over to Wind, but Tellus or Bell does not.

Anything unlocked from T-Mo US would also be a match....

Some ATT phones like the RM-940 Lumia 1520 have AWS hidden and it can be activated if Field Test Menu is not locked out - as in this thread: http://forums.windowscentral.com/no...wind-mobilicity-aws1700mhz-hspa-band-4-a.html But on a case by case basis I could not say which phones those are except 1520 obviously does and I just got a RM-983 ATT Branded Lumia 830 and I can get into Field Test, but AWS 1700 is not on the radio to be activated...

Is it a branded phone? Meaning, does it bear a carrier's name on the outside, or on a splash screen when you boot it up, or have carrier branded Apps inside?

If so, what carrier? Is it unlocked?

Please go to Settings > extras + info

Write down what it says under Manufacturer's Name & Mobile Operator...

Please don't ever post your IMEI on a public forum... I edited it out for you.

If you can not even make a call... The phone is not necessarily locked.

If it is unlocked you still have issues as Wind does not run any GSM (2G) only 3G/H+...

Your phone does not have 1700 MHz on the WCDMA / 3G / H+ radio needed for Wind.

Your phone is physically incompatible with your service. Sorry.
