How reliable is Verizon?

I'm on AT&T. I've heard that you have to pay a bunch of fees in order to switch to Verizon. I'm not saying it's true but I'd like to know from someone who has Verizon: Are they good?

It depends on location more than anything. Verizon has the best overall coverage of any carrier, but AT&T is not too far behind in a lot of areas. The carriers' coverage maps will help give you an idea of how they'll work for you where you live and work.

Also, if you're a Windows Phone user, AT&T is preferable because you can use almost any unlocked phone. If you're not a Windows Phone user, or are willing to switch, it doesn't really matter.

My recommendation is not to rely on carriers' coverage maps but to ask family, friends, neighbours, and co-workers who have a particular carrier and who also live, work, and travel in the same areas you do how their coverage is with that particular carrier.
