Wore the MS Band & my newly acquired Misfit Shine last night. I clipped the Shine to my shirt and I'm going to try a different location tonight and see if they match up a bit more closely when the Shine is in better (constant) contact with my skin.

Anyway, here's the comparison. The Shine is paired to my HTC One (m7) since my WP's won't find it (at all) to pair with & use. (Which is frustrating since I purchased 4 of them for the family...)

Says: ** Requires Windows Phone 8.1 and the Cyan firmware for Lumia devices **

Misfit | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

Very different numbers. When did you really sleep? My Band has been pretty spot on so far.

Yep, we're 8.1 with BT 4.0, Misfit app is in the store and downloadable for our phones, which Misfit themselves says it will work with the Shine then.

The Band is spot on with the times. The misfit 'wake up' time would be off b/c obviously if its clipped to my shirt, that was off and laying on the bed, not moving, when I went to shower. The Band, being that I have to actually manually intervene to tell it I'm awake, is correct.

It seems that the shine number for deep sleep seems to be spot on with the Band total sleep. 4:21 vs 4:29. I think it is how the different programming counts deep vs light sleep.

BTW - you need more sleep :)

Yes, yes I do. I have "Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder", a Cicadian rhythm problem that runs in my family. My ideal 24 cycle would be to go to bed at 3AM, waking up at Noon. Seeing a sleep specialist has been extremely helpful.

I do my best to catch up on the weekends...but enough about me. I wanted to compare the results, and felt others might be interested as well.

Here's the 2nd nights comparison. The Band is correct, while the Misfit seems to think I fell asleep much earlier.

think the real difference comes down to the Misfit's automatic sleep detection isn't super accurate. If its late, and you're sitting still it assumes you're asleep, where as the Band needs your input to tell it you're going to sleep and that you're awake.

If you can remember to do those things, the Band will always be more accurate, where as the Misfit will have some margin of error.

Anyway, here's the 2nd night. I'm not planning on posting any more, but thought others might find it useful. Again worn on my shirt as I'm testing it before giving each family member on for Christmas...I suspect wearing it on my wrist will improve its accuracy.

Is it possible to see sleep history in the health app, or does it only show the previous day?

Also, if you think your sleep is bad, it seems last night I only got 48 minutes of restful sleep. I think that is a problem

I sent my shine back. The app was horrible, wouldn't sync half the time, would misplace my data, etc. Since you have it, try putting it on your other wrist.

Interesting results, I sometimes find that sometimes my Shine (with auto-sleep tracking enabled) mistakes me going to sleep for when I sit at my computer in the evenings...otherwise it's reasonably accurate vs. Sleep Cycle on my old iPod touch. The hardware is beautiful on the Shine, but for now, the software sucks.

I agree that the hardware is great, Shine is easy to loose (though), I'd love a locator beeper on the Shine 2...first I need them to fix syncing on WP though...
