Although all of the Windows 8.1 devices can be upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft launched devices like 640 and 640XL with "Windows 10" ready tag. So, is there any chance that they will support Continuum on these devices?

But, they also said that it requires a special new hardware and the reason Joe cited was dual screen capability where the phone screen shows a different screen and PC/TV screen a different. So Is it possible that they launch a 'Partial' continuum that doesn't give dual screen feature but atleast the Modern Universal Apps Expansion.

There are many experts and Microsoft Insiders here. Any response is appreciable.

What we saw at build was the very early stages of this technology.
They are still working on this feature. They said they are looking at every possible way to make this happen. So, don't give up hope.

    That being said,
the high end lumias need a compelling reason to sell well. Right now, that compelling reason is continuum. So, it is obvious that they wont bring continuum to low end phones. At least for the first quarter year. So, don't hold your breath.

TLDR: don't give up hope. But, don't hold your breath.

From what I can remember being said around BUILD time, is that Qualcomm are currently developing the hardware to make continuum, which I can only assume is that it won't work on current phones if its hardware related.

As far as High End phones are concerned, Joe has clearly stated it it will be available for almost all the phones hinting towards availability for mid range phones too. Moreover, in yesterdays post about continuum on this site, they also clearly inferred that it will be coming to mid-range phones. It also requires USB 3.0 Type-C if I recall correctly from one of the leaks that came out about a month ago.

What if we want it wirelessly using Miracast. Then usb is not a issue.

That makes sense as it's aimed at markets where it can be a replacement and cost saving alternative to laptops. Your average flagship use will probably be more likely to have a Surface or other 2 in 1 device.

There needs to be demand for the feature on older devices yeah it will be great having it on a 630 and 635 it's a way they can gain trust and market share with supporting customers any way possible yeah it might be rubbish on 512mb ram but at least it's there, and their customers are happy to stay using WP, it should at least come to 1-2 year old devices e.g Lumia 1020 phones like this already are more powerful than average laptops that they sell.
