I am at the Toronto Yorkdale location and at 7am their are already 30 people when I arrived (bad driving conditions or else I would have need here at 6am) and now at 7:45 close to 50 people for the 20 $99 venue pro 8. At least they can pick it up for $199

If you guys want some pure comedy gold and a look at our entitlement society, read through the last few pages of the Slickdeals thread. I swear, those guys ruin it for a lot of us.

Just bought my Venue. The kiosk where I got mine said they only had 11 at the $199 price. Someone in line said a Microsoft Store an hour away had 6 at the $199 price. If you are number 100 in line you are probably screwed.

site didnt crash, but at 7am it was 299 and then after adding it, removing it and going back it was at $199 and still is. Maybe MS canada had transactions to deal with?

I went by our local mall around 9AM and there was a decently long line already so I skipped it.

The $99 online ones were sold out when I reloaded my page at 11AM.

I was going to buy one for $199 but the site is broken now.

Just got one for $99 (PLUS a $25 Windows Store card! What?!?!) at the MS store in Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta. I was astonished at how simple and non-crazed the whole process was. I got there at 6:45 AM and there were only 6 people lined up outside. A MS store employee came out and handed out blue wristbands for the first 20. They were gone by 7:10 or so. Everyone else got an orange wristband to secure the $199 deal.

We were free to leave the line to eat/use the bathroom/whatever and come back around 8:30 or so. A little before then, they sent out an employee with a store unit to let people in line play with it, plus they gave out free bottled water. They opened at 9AM (one hour earlier than usual). Employees applauded us on the way in and they processed the first 5-8 orders on Lumias with card readers within minutes.

It was an awesome experience, and the deal was so insane, I dropped another $40 for the Folio case. What a cool day!

Well Woodfield in Schaumburg was a bust. They opened up an hour earlier then they said and they only had 20 at the 99 price. There are over 40 people in line.

Every store only had 20 at the 99 price. That's not surprising. What is surprising is all the stores I got intel on had way less at the $199 price... well it was only two stores. But the one that had the most had 11 at $199. The other store I heard about had 6!

I'm sure we'll all be hearing about "how terrible windows 8 still is and how it doesn't compare to my iPad Air, my iPad mini, my Nexus 7, or my Galaxy Tab" from all the tech bloggers that swooped in to pick these up while those of us who actually wanted one continue to disagree. Not on this site of course but maybe on cnet or the verge or sites like that.

I went to the Tysons corner mall at 8AM and was 40th. found out people were waiting since 12AM!!! never had a chance. the damn website kept crashing. I got one on amazon a few weeks ago for $229 not $99 or $199 but still a great deal.
