I've got a Surface Pro 2 charger and the charger has a USB port that can be used to charge phones. The output for the USB port says 5V (symbol) 1A. The output for my Dell Venue 8 Pro charger says, I think, 6V (symbol) 2A. It might be handy to charge both at the same time occasionally.
Will the Dell charge safely and effectively if I use the SP2 charger port? It won't hurt the battery, will it? It doesn't really matter to me if it takes longer, because I'm thinking about an overnight charge.
Yes, I'm a complete dunce about electricity. All I know is that is comes from those little holes in the wall and it smarts when I stick a fork in there.

the only real effect I see happening would be a slower charge

I'm no electrician, but Volts is the force/pressure of the electricity, Amps are the amount
I could very well be oversimplifiying.

A lower A would mean less power supplied to the device compared to a higher one. So a slower charge.
Lower voltage should be OK.
