I've been looking at a few movie player apps in Metro mode. None of them can meet the following desired requirements:

  • Use of gestures to skip a few seconds forward and backward, perhaps with a finger swipe left or right
  • Capable of playing movies in a folder, sequentially
  • Use of gesture to go to the next movie, perhaps with a double-tap
  • Use of gestures to adjust the volume, brightness
  • Capable of creating and playing from a saved playlist
  • Capable of playing movies from a mapped drive of NAS
  • Most importantly, capable of "PlayTo"

Do you have any recommendation?

Use VLC...you're not on RT anymore Toto!

No point of being condescending where in fact VLC does not support gesture whatsoever.

For tablet use, controlling a player with gestures is must. Almost any android player can do that with authority, some are better than others. In case you're clueless about it, watch it here, MX Player for Android which is one of the best if not the best one out there.

Wasn't trying to be condescending. Honestly I don't see the point of all those features in that android player.
Anyway...news is out now and it should eventually kick ***
