I like my DV8P but one thing that's kept me from using it more is the minimum brightness. Even when the screen brightness is set to minimum, it's still far too bright to use in bed at night. I still use my Kindle Fire HD for that as there was an app I could download that set the brightness low enough that it wasn't a nuisance in a dark room. Is there any way to do that on the DV8P? I've seen programs that can run in the desktop mode that will essentially paint a gray mask over everything to effectively reduce the brightness, but they don't seem to have any effect on metro mode and also have some odd bugs when switching back and forth. I mostly do Netflix at night so I'd prefer to not have to visit the desktop at all. TIA.

have you try fiddling with auto brightness on and off?
I agree that the minimum brightness is pretty bright. try to make a suggestion to dell maybe they'll release a new firmware.
