Why doesn't the touchscreen work on my Dell XPS 12 laptop?

I've had issues with my touchscreen going out periodically over the last few months. I was able to get it to start working again if I rebooted the machine or even flip the screen around into tablet mode. Now it does nothing. I think the real issue is a compatibility issues with Win 8.1. I don't think I was having any issues with Win 8. I've done all the standard procedures with updating all the drivers and nothing seems to work. I just tried updated the touchscreen driver and it doesn't recognize the touchscreen controller or hardware. Something is stopping the hardware to be recognized. I'm assuming some driver conflict, but I don't know how to resolve the issue. Any help from anyone? Thanks!
