There was a few years ago. I had the 2014(?) XPS13 Developer Edition. It's awesome, drivers all work right out of the box. I didn't however have the QuadHD display because HiDPI support wasn't quite there yet at the time. I feel like the high density screens are a bit more normal now, so maybe the UI teams have had a chance to support them more?

I have an XPS 13 Developer Edition (2016). Running Ubuntu 16.04LTS. Awesome machine -- and Ubuntu supports HiDPI just fine. Multiple Monitors can be a bit iffy at times, so I usually run the main panel at 1920x1080 (or other close 16:9 resolution) without scaling when I have an external monitor hooked up. Don't use it as much anymore after getting my ThinkPad P50 (Quad Core), but it is a wonderful machine and the display is great.
