I found this, but I understand I also need to know the product code, so that I know which fw to d'load etc:
Download Official Nokia Firmware Even Without Navifirm+
Is there a comprehensive guide for L1020 owners out there somewhere?
I've "just" started my own research on this, so hopefully I'll find something in the meantime.
Basically I want to get rid of the crippled environment my telco (Telstra) created for me, & move to the most bleeding-edge version of vanilla WP8.

Thank-you.

Live Notes:
Google search: lumia 1020 product codes
*UPDATE*
Found a bunch of interesting links, too busy/tired to grok through it all tonight, will pick this up again tomorrow.
If anyone can outline all necessary steps in 1 concise post in the meantime, please do.

All I know is - Stay in the same product family (RM - 875, 876 & 877), if you try to go out of that, you'll be inviting trouble.

Any concise/clear guides specifically for telco branded 1020 owners looking to de-brand to a more generic env. that's "bleeding edge"?

Thanks, seems much like all the other links I've gathered, now I just have to find the time/energy to sift through all that info...
Upon quick perusal the trickiest bit seems to be removing my current (latest version) of nokia suite & installing nokia care (with the right config file), assuming they can't run in parallel.

hey guys, I've just got my Nokia 1020 with the Vodafone logo in the initialization. Although it has no simlock, I wanna remove it and probably downgrade to GDR2, because since the upgrade, my camera sucks, it gives me very very yellowish pics.
Does anybody have a tutorial?
Further details:
Model: Nokia 909 (it's 1020 - black version, but it shows me this model)
Firmware number: 3049.0000.1330.1005
Hardware revision number: 1.0.0.0
Mobile Operator: Vodafone Germany
Manufacturer name: RM-875_eu_euro2_206
Configuration ID: 255907
