Ive seen unofficial app versions of websites. How does one go about doing this if you dont own the website. I was looking at a recipe site, and thought itd be nice to have an app version of it. Would looking at the page source provide all the info you need?

Not really. Most unofficial apps for websites rely on RSS feeds. The apps use the RSS APIs from MS and use a StackPanel to list the headers and navigate to another page on tap. A good example from the WP central app for Windows Phone is the read pane for news. Therefore if a certain website provides RSS, then you can write an app for it.
