Devs: lock screen/display programmatically

There are apps which let you lock the phone WITHOUT using the hardware button.
For example: Simple Screen Locker | Windows Phone Anwendungen + Spiele Store (Deutschland)

Does anybody know how the developers achieved this?
Is there an API or at least documentation available?

These apps are using undocumented APIs. They're pretty much invoking native APIs that aren't actually allowed in the store but the way they do it isn't detected in cert. I suggest you look at XDA for more help...

You can use undocumented api. Notes: In wp8.0 app, marketplace api never allows you to use an undocumented api. But i figure out 2 way to pass it. 1. Use pinvoke 2. Use loadexternallibrary.

Thank you for your answers so far. I dont want to put the app into the store, it will be just for myself. Which undocumented API do you mean? Is there at least IntelliSense support for them?
