First of all, I am not a developer, but I think I have a great idea for MS, that you developers could suggest to MS.
The app store has the problem that many apps are not updated for a very long time, and the quality of them stays mediocre.
In order for the MS Store to differentiate from the Apple Store and the Play Store, a different revenue model for developers could be used.
I'm not sure how much revenue you guys get per download, but lets keep this simple for the sake of the example. The idea is that, the better your app is, the more revenue you get per download. Now you'll always get 40% for example. But it could be done like this:
1 star rating: 30%
2 star rating: 40%
3 star rating: 50%
4 star rating: 60%
5 star rating: 70%
For a newly made app, I suggest, the developer gets a 4 star revenue for 6 months guaranteed. After that period, his revenue will be depended on the rating.
This idea could motivate many developers to constantly increase the quality of their apps. This could also motivate developers who only develop for iOS and/or Android to make an app for WP, because - if lets say - you get 50% revenue max in those stores, aiming for 70% in the WP Store sounds very temping. What do you guys think? Please do not look at the numbers, but at the idea. Suggest better numbers if you have better understanding of how the revenue is now.
