Unity3D game needs graceful shutdown for low memory force quit?

I submitted my game to Microsoft on Tuesday and got a reply Friday evening saying it failed because it suddenly closes when they tapped the play button. Thing is, this game isn't optimised for the device they tested in which is the Lumia 630 (a 512mb ram device). Is there a way to specify that the game requires a minimum of 1gb ram? Or is there a way that I can tell the user that their phone isn't compatible via code in game?

Its a weird situation as I've seen may other games in the store that require at least 1gb ram. Is this some kind of requirement change?

Yes it is possible to require a minimum of 1gb of ram.
It is different for Windows Phone 8 and 8.1.
