Below I am offering a comparison of photos taken on default settings from the Lumia 1020 (5mp oversampled photo), 920 (regular 8.7mp photo), and iPhone 5 (8 mp photo?)

So you own all three phones?

No actually I have the 920 and 1020. The iPhone 5 was my buddy's, who was taking the photos himself.

Not the greatest comparisons. But at least they can put to bed the Lumia 920/1020 terrible in daylight stuff that somehow still chugs on.

Check out some of my photos in this thread for some awesome 1020 shots.

Nice comparison. Some amazing detail on the 1020. Does really show that the 1020 is in a league of its own. The iphone 5 ones looks more like paintings due to the noise reduction.

The iPhone 5 pictures definitely look the worst. The colours look washed out.

Actually iPhone 5's camera and 808 Pureview 's Camera produce colors closest to natural colors while Lumia pics are saturated.

Images of Lumias are saturated purposefully because Nokia thinks people like saturated images better. (from feedback they got from consumers)

Note that , Saturation doesn't mean over-saturated pics , maybe "punchy" shots (like Nokia said)

Green colour specially?is bit off putting. Doesn't look natural at all. Sometimes it looks right but most of time it is just too bright green. You need to under expose photo to make greens look natural.

When there is lots of grass or leafed trees, camera goes freak and photos can look like this

front part and left part of photo looks natural but in rest of photo green colour is blown out. That could have been corrected by lowerin EV value a bit since that photo is clearly over exposed. All photos taken on auto settings seems to suffer over exposing and Nokia should take look on that. Everyone should notice that and check their exposure better. It probably corrects lots of colour problems too.

Over exposed photos are impossible to correct later, but slight under expose is easily corrected.

Great comparison Arsenic17. To my eyes and on my monitor the iphone has the best white and colour balance. Easily fixed manually prior to snapping or in post processing though. For resolution and detail between ip5 and 920 I give the slight edge to ip5 but not by much. The 1020 is easily superior to both in this regard.

IMO iPhone 5 does a great job, beat 920 in detail and colour. However the King is 1020, no doubt :)

I will admit my 920 may not be the best to compare with. I took it apart many times to fix different issues, and was not really careful at all. I noticed it doesnt take nearly as good of pictures as it used to. Not sure what it is. My front facing camera is defintely weird now too. It blurs photos and distorts near the edges. iPhone 5 and 1020 were sealed and working condition as from the factory though!

iphone5 photo 2 beat both in that one example....sorry.

The rest were a toss up between the 1020 and 920 honestly. I don't mind the warmer picture the 920 is taking, obviously the 1020 is doing better color reproduction in most cases.

after see this comparision, I concluded that indeed the 1020 has a bitte more sharp in the photo but NOT THAT MUCH. there is no a big diference 1020/920 photos to justify change mi phone to a 1020.
