My lad just got his Xbox One, at the moment he only has his account set up, I have had mine a few months and it has me, the wife and the lad set up with accounts.

Just checked my games and it seems I now have access to all his games as well as my own

We are still checking this out but it seems like any game he buys will auto download to my machine the way we have this set up.

I had planned to buy my wife an Xbox One so that we have a single interface for all our entertainment across all the tellies in the house, but if we have this right, it would mean once my wife has a Gold account, if we all wanted the same game, in effect that game becomes a third of the price shared between us, on that basis I will get her the white Sunset Overdrive bundle and we can all play it (Hopefully).

Got to head out for work so no more time to play with this, so I will report back when my lad has finished all his downloads and we have a bit more time to sort this all out

The Xbox One has a "Home Xbox" feature in it. This is to allow you to easily access your library on another Xbox. So, your son used your Xbox before getting his own. This has set your Xbox as his "Home Xbox" by default. As such, if he gets something on his console, it will automatically go to yours. It means that you can access any of his content on your Xbox without issue, but if you wanted to access it on his Xbox, he'd have to be signed in.

Basically, it works like a workaround to the loss of the planned game sharing. I can play Advanced Warfare with my brother-in-law, both playing solely off of his digital copy, simply because he used my Xbox before getting his. You can change the home console of your account in the settings for the console, if it causes any kind of issue.

We managed to work that out just before I left for work, luckily my wife also used mine first

That's what happened! I wondered the same when my brother's purchases popped up on my system 2 months ago.... works for me!

I ain't complaining about it

Although I can see I need a usb hard drive sooner than I planned for

Yea my buddy an I have been doing this forever. We basically split the cost of all games, and their digital which is better in every way.

My xbox is set as his home xbox and vice versa, we both have gold. The only downside to this is that if we are offline we only get to play the other persons game but i see this as a non-issue.
