Xbox elite controllers, trouble with triggers?

I have 2 xbox elite controllers I have noticed they don't have the same max preasure point as the standard controllers. I specifically started to notice this in Ghost recon. The vehicles will not go full speed. This may have been happening on different games but this is when I first noticed it. I tried changing the trigger points in the controller configurations but it didn't help. has any one else noticed this?

are the switches on the back set to the shorter setting?
