The new trade in program is NOT what I hoped for... You get like $250 less than what your device package is worth..

Never should a Surface Pro 3 i7 512gb+a keyboard trade in leave you with a $200 difference to receive a SP4 with 128gb of storage and an m3 processor with no keyboard.

The i7 512gb model should model should be at least worth an equal trade for the 128gb i5 model

The i3 64gb model should imho have around a $250 trade in difference when swapping for the Core m3 model.. Both without keyboard

Are people seriously going to cheat themselves by going with this? Unless of course you have an original Surface Pro or Surface RT...

While I would never take that deal, I also would not value my equipment based on the value of new equipment I was buying (which they aren't). If I can resell my SP3 for $500, retail (person to person) for example, I would expect less value as a trade-in. That's typically the way trade-ins work. You get less money for less work (selling it yourself).

But, yes. That deal sucks. And no, I would not expect them to give me a brand new i5 SP4 for a used i7 SP3, stright-up. Maybe a person to person trade for a used i5 SP4 for a used i7 SP 3, in a few months. Sell it yourself, IMO.

Microsoft's trade-in values are notoriously bad. Sad that I've found better trade-in deals at Best Buy... if you catch them right the values are not bad considering the lack of hassle.
