Sorry if this has been asked before but Best Buy Canada has the sp3 i5 256/8gb for 1299 an the sp3 i7 128/8gb for 1299 as well. I'm wondering if the i7 is the better buy as storage space isn't a huge factor for me. Or if the seemingly stability of th i5 safer. Does the i7 really have the heat/fan issues that are widely reported. The sp4 I out as I don't want to spend the extra 300 for the i5 8gb.

Your input would really help me. Thanks in advance.

First of all ask yourself what are you going to be using it for?

There is no point spending big bucks if you are not going to be using the device to it's full capabilities.

I went against my original thoughts and got the sp4 i5 4gb. We'll see over the next 30 days how it plays out. So far so good an loving it. I am only just finishing setting it up the way I want it. Big upgrade from my 8 year old dell xps.

wanted to chime in and say that for general use the extra storage is worth the i5. An i7 isn't needed for most standard things, although its nice to have . And I remember struggling to cram my stuff into a 120 GB drive.
