Hey, there. I'm a student from Mazenod and I'm going to be starting VCE. I know, scary. My laptop is currently on its deathbed (have not taken good care of it.) I want you guys, the community to suggest some good laptops for a student like myself ;) I'm personally looking for good value (somewhere around 1000) and able to run casual games, thanks in advance.

A ThinkPad T-series is a good bet. An X if you want something smaller is fine too.
Also check out Dell's Latitude lineup.

Thanks! I'll have a look at the ThinkPad laptops. The X260 is actually on sale at the moment, along with other ThinkPad laptops.

Yeah, I bought an e460 with 2GB graphics and core i7, it was very inexpensive. It was $888AU for a 1080p IPS screen, too! I'm happy with my choice :)
