I've bought it for 0.99$ to support Jay and WPCentral, as they are doing great job. I paid 0.99$ once, and I receive news, deal infos, software/hardware reviews EVERYDAY, so I don't regret buying it... Just sad thing, Microsoft can't charge my Debit Card since 2 months... Hope you're not starving without my $$$. :) Will wait for MS gift cards to pay off my debts!! Greetings.

When will people stop complaining about paying for an app? Will $1 make a difference, really??

Yep, getting a bit bored of hearing about people complaining that certain apps cost money. And most of the time they have ad supported equivalents so don't see the issue.

I haven't been purchasing apps much for awhile due to my money situation. I got the trial version of WPCentral, but then the other week, I decided to get the full 99 cent version. Not a bad deal at all, and it's not like I can't afford it.

Just thought I'd say RE: the price choice. The app is the absolute cheapest price tier that it can be because I agree that apps should be cheap unless they are something very different/special or a game

Why's the iMore app free then?
Because we developed it under a different model whereby I am solely responsible for it rather than being employed by the site.
Something to consider: Facebook have been struggling to monetise mobile by having a free app with no adverts. If there is no way to make money from development for these devices the market will collapse

What Jay has made is universally regarded a top 10 WP app for those who really care about the platform. Just find the .99 and support the man. It's not like he's at home twiddling his thumbs in mid air to make the app happen. His level of app support is amazing, so support the man & go premium.

People are complaining, and they won't stop... Few of them, due to available payment options - what is understood... Und rest of them, because they associate Microsoft? Windows? with free apps and games, no matter which country they live, and what is the price of product. They get used to download everything for free, without limited functionality nor ads... Just torrent client required and you won't even spend 0.01$. It's funny. I bet, that 90% of complaining people downloaded game via torrent. Thing worth at least 50$, that huge crew worked on long years... and now it's problem for them to support young creative developer with 1$?!?!?! It's time to change your habits. :)

I understand the argument that it costs to develop and maintain an app, but the iMore and Android Central apps are free. And they are every bit as high quality and maintained just as well as far as I can tell.

I would have paid $4.99 for this app, without hesitation. This app works and works extremely well. One of, if not the best app in the marketplace.

People are bored and just love complaining IMHO... I can name hundreds of apps that aren't worth .99 cents, even though they're priced higher. Yet, I see less complaining about those apps! It's a shame.

That's interesting! So are the iMore & AC app developers being paid by the site? If so, why not wpcentral?

By the way, you've done a great job on the app!

iMore and AC apps will have been developed by people employed by Mobile Nations. Jay is an independent developer who is associated with MN but isn't employed by them. He has to get food on the table somehow.

This argument bothers me. Don't get me wrong -- I am not complaining about the 99 cent price. I am going to complain about the notion of giving the developer charity so he can buy food. Screw that. If the product is worth the price then it will sell and the dev will get paid. If it is not worth the price then it will not sell and the dev will not get paid. Similarly, if Jay could be selling the same amount of licenses for more money then he should be doing so -- and is doing everyone a disservice by not doing so. We call this the free market - the best economic system ever developed by man. When you mess it up by throwing socialism or charity into the mix we all lose in the long run and end up with the sense of entitlement that is running rampant in the world today.

xyronaut well said in india in 99cent i can hv my awesome lunch ~ :(
99cent is around 55 rs i can buy 3 burgers is that much money

So, you bought a Lumia 820 at $400/24k inr but can't pay $1 for an app? doesn't matter how much your lunch costs but since you can afford a smartphone, you can also afford to spend some money on apps which developers deserve.

In the USA a cell phone can cost between $100 and $500. Are you saying that you pay between 5,500 rs and 27,500 rs or between 16,500 burgers and 82,500 burgers?

That seems like a very high price. Is it possible?

I'm trying to understand.
Let me explain, Food is very cheap in India as its a developing country, developed countries have much higher priced food, rent, healthcare due to higher wages etc..
He is exaggerating a bit, you get 2 veg burgers for $1 in India but most of the population(99%) eats local Indian food everyday and not the burgers, pasta, pizza etc. You can have local food lunch at $1 at small places or can spend as much as you want at expensive restaurants too if you have the budget.

But all this doesn't mean that people can't spend on apps, someone who can afford a smartphone worth $200-$700 can easily afford to pay for apps. It is the thinking that has to change not the prices of apps. For example: My friend who owns an Audi A6 which costs $100k in India due to high taxes etc refuses to buy any app and prefers free version instead of paying $1. So, the mentality has to change and people educated that an app takes hardwork and time to make and deserves the money of the users.

Really? Free market the best system invented by man? I'm on board with most of what you said until I saw this part. I can go pull a couple hundred million people across the globe would disagree with you here. How would you feel about being judged by your own comments with regards to how you get your own income? But I won't turn your comment into a social talking point, because this isn't the place for it....

Again, it is a top 10 app for people who care about the platform, and casual users who like to get news on the platform. People will buy the app or use the free, ad supported version. No app is truly free, because someone has to invest time to write and update it, the app must get hosted someplace ($), etc. Everyone wants to be compensated for good work. It's not like this is a lousy app at all...

Thanks; that answers my question. But it also brings up another one. Why do iMore & AC get free apps paid for by the site, but wpcentral doesn't? Isn't wpcentral also part of Mobile Nations?
