When Samsung first came out with the Note they created a new category that the critics called The Phablet. You had fanboys from every corner mocking it's size. Bashing Samsung for being so ridiculous for coming out with such a device. So where are we now? Hmmmm.....let's see....
We now are at a point where Samsung is the most profitable phone manufacturer around. The Note has become the second or third best selling android device. Their no holds barred strategy of bringing out devices of all sizes to see what works has paid off. This is the strategy that haters on tech forums like this one loved to bash. But when you really think of it, these haters are bashing CHOICE. Why would any consumer who wants the most for their hard earned money bash CHOICE. If an OEM is willing to take up the cost to go the route of offering everything under the sun to let THE CONSUMER chose what is best, then I'm all for it. We should all support this strategy. It completely works in the favor of the consumer.
So now that Samsung has braved this path, you now have others making bigger screens. NOBODY else cared to make it work. LG has already jumped in. We now have rumors of PHABLETS from Apple, Nokia, and HTC. So let see if the rumor is true, and let's see how many of the haters that support these other manufactures decide to admit Samsung was absolutely right in their strategy and give them full credit for it.

Well it's a good thing Samsung didn't try to copy Nokia's way of losing money. But seriously, Samsung's consumers are some of the most demanding and vocal. And Samsung is a company that listens. That's why they are where they are today. Maybe Nokia should copy that.

You know Samsung had those type of phones years ago don't you?

They didn't even run android, they ran Samsungs proprietary OS.

....;?

On another note, Samsung add-ons are what really sold the Note. A huge screen doesn't make a phablet, ask Dell how that went.
