Hi

Saw this cool page where a qi charger was carved into the backside a table plate, so it is hidden . I got the charger (Samsung qi charger), but I is wondering.

Since the charger works with induction, what would happen if something of metal is places over the charger - like a metal clip or the power cord to a lamp? Especially when there is a thin plate of wood (could it get warm enough to catch fire?)

It doesn't work that way, there need to be a coil in the exact position, and a circuit where the power would flow

But is the coil not a spiral of copper wire and the charging is made by electromagnetic? So if a paper clip is placed directly over the charging coil it will heat up?
