I convinced one of my friends to buy a WP. He decided to go for L525 as it has 1GB ram & its fits his current budget.

However my concern is that even though the 525 has 1gb ram, compared to other 1gb WP models it has low processor speed. So will these 1gb games lag on this phone? Anyone here could give me any advice?

I can't say exactly, having never used one, but considering the performance of my old Trophy and the consistent hardware across devices I would bet that it will be fine. Usual thing I see posted is that maybe loading/installation times are slower...

I've actually been wondering this myself.

I imagine the problem's always been breathing room for the game to run respectably, and speed should be fine. (Actually, what about the chipset's GPU for those who are knowledgeable?)

You can even play modern combat 4 on a lumia 520 if you know how to install it... the gpu power of those lumias 520-720 are not far from the one that you can find on the lumia 820-1020.
The only problem was always the 512 mb ram, that now it's solved on the lumia 525
Nokia Lumia 525 (RM-998) vs. Nokia Lumia 820 (RM-824, RM-825, RM-826) in GFXBench – unified graphics benchmark based on DXBenchmark (DirectX) and GLBenchmark (OpenGL ES)

btw

Nokia Lumia 820 (RM-824, RM-825, RM-826) vs. Nokia Lumia 920 (RM-820, RM-821, RM-822) in GFXBench – unified graphics benchmark based on DXBenchmark (DirectX) and GLBenchmark (OpenGL ES)

My friend prioritize gaming. So should he get 525 now or wait and save up for a high end phone?

Not exactly, actually the lumia 820 is the fastest lumia because it has the same hardware as the lumia920-1020 but he just need to render evething at a lower resolution. And because of the same detail about the resolution, the lumia 525 can beat the 920-1020 too as you can prove to you here.

The adreno 305 on the lumia 520-525-620-720 offers pretty the same power as the 225 found on the other lumia,
Ofcourse, they have better cpu what can keep the system still faster while you are playing and it's a really good thing, but yes, if his friend want the best performance he should buy the lumia 820, or so he will be well served with the lumia 525.

I think they should release a bit higher end version of 520.. With 1GB RAM, 1.4GHz CPU, Adreno 305 as GPU is great no need to change it. Give it a Clearblack display, HAAC mic, camera flash and front camera. Basically a 620 with 1GB RAM, but with 520's design and screen size at the same price 620 is available. That would prove to be a really best seller and would be a much all rounder mid or low end phone.. By the way add 1080p video recording too as 1.4 GHz Snapdragon S4 can support it.

From the looks of it, the only thing thats stoping L525 going head to head against L820~925 is the processor speed. Adding FFC + Flash + 1.5 GHz processor will kill the sales of High end Lumias.

I bet that will kill the price too.
(and definitely bump it up to the upper midrange though..)

Just gonna leave this here:
Why Telltale Games, Creator Of The Walking Dead, Is A Match Made In Heaven On Windows Phones | WP7 Connect

how do you guys think these games will run if they were ported on Windows Phone??

Almost all the mobile games are made & optimized for iPhone. That's why ported games that comes to WP lags, crashes & limits 512mb ram users at first.
If developers like Telltale make games first on WP arhitecture, (and then port it to others) they would run perfectly.
