    Just checked the permission asked by WP8 version of Whatsapp WhatsApp | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (भारत) & was amazed to see it asks for VOIP permission too.
    Why would such a messaging app asks for that kind of a permission.
    Also i doubt this can be the reason too why this app posts messages even when you are in offline mode as soon as the Push of the message is received.

    Does anyone knows the reason ??

    I believe that VoIP feature is voice messages.When users enter into a chat with a contact, to the left of the text window a microphone icon appears to send voice messages. one can simply press and hold that icon to record a voice clip which is then sent instantly to the contact.

    VOIP is Voice Over Internet Protocol my friend & the permission name is VOIP calling.
