Need help 'updating' apps via sd card

You see, Asphalt 8 got updated and my 820 is looooow on storage space. Is it possible to update via SD card? I'm afraid I might loose all content In the game!
I've tried updating it via my phone, it's downloading but I dont know if it'll continue..

yes you can update apps via sd card , do to so go to windowsphone.com , sign in with your Microsoft id and search for asphalt 8 ->scroll down and on the lower left side you will see an option download and install manually , the file (.xap) will begin downloading. once finished connect your Lumia 820 to your computer ->copy the .xap file on root directory of your memory card (do not copy in any other folder like music , pictures). now just reboot your phone and connect your phone to wifi- give store some time (5-10 min) and when you open up the store you will see SD card option , just tap and update

So basically the same way you download an app via an sd card!

The problem is, I only have 310+ mb of phone storage left... Will it affect the update?

I am not sure I have a Lumia 920
